Strategy notes
- Pure variance: 24-mines is a 96% loss / 4% big-win binary. Bankroll loss is dramatic and quick.
- Bankroll math: at 4% hit rate, expected longest losing streak in 100 bets is ~25 — common to see 50+ consecutive losses.
- Kelly criterion stake: extremely low (~1% of bankroll) given the variance.
- Not a strategy. A way to entertain yourself burning a small predetermined amount fast.

Frequently asked questions
- Why is 24 mines payout 24.75x not 25x?
- Flat 1% house edge. Fair payout at 1/25 probability is 25x; we pay 24.75x (= 25 × 0.99). The 0.25x gap IS the house edge.
- Is 24 mines a good strategy?
- Not really. It's a single-event lottery. Same EV as any other mine count; massively higher variance. Use only if you want fast variance, not for long-term play.
